New Computer!!!!

I am online again!!! YAY YAY YAY! My dear kind friends Stephanie & Dan donated a spare machine to me last weekend. It took me until today to figure out why it couldn't get online. (My brain hurts.) So I have spent my ENTIRE day glued to the thing since finally getting connected.

I changed my moblog around. Go to the bottom and check out my slide shows.

I'm now using Mozilla Firefox. It's pretty nifty. And gaim for my instant messaging. It's also nifty.

I was off today because I'm working all day tomorrow. Then going to co-worker Jason's art show and book signing. Very cool.

My 2-week pet-sitting gig that was supposed to start today was cancelled. So I'm out $420. But I can't complain because I've been replaced by their neighbors who need a place to stay because their house burned down. :(

I am so hungry. And I smell kinda funny. And I didn't exercise. All because of silly internet. Must pry myself away and eat and shower and we'll see about the exercise thing.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY WANDI !!!!

Holy Cow It's April Already

I'm up early. I've been up since 8:40. FYI that is earlier than I get up on a work day. So I'm gonna be tired today. Might have to resort to coffee (I never drink it). But I'll get a full day in.

Lookin' forward to going to the Super Pet Expo with Stephanie & Danny. Yay! Hangin' out w/ fun friends AND being a pet-lover dork. Hopefully we'll visit the doggy daycare & I can see the renovations and a couple other friends. And there's a wine "cellar" next door where I can pick up some South African wine I like and some Belgian beer Brian likes. Maybe we'll visit my pet store too. It would be nice if I had thought to grab some business cards for talking to rescue groups at the expo about setting up adoption events.

At the expo I want to see 3 of the shows: "Feline (& K9) Purr-formers," "Exotic Bird Show," and "Classic K-9 Performance Team." Maybe "Chicken Man" or "Clicker Training" if time permits. Probably won't have time for "How to Get Your Pet Into Show Business" or "Why Big Cats Don't Make Good Pets."

Today is the first full day of the weight-loss contest/bet. I'm up against 2 roommates and 2 of their coworkers to lose the highest percentage of body weight in 3 months. I was the lightest, weighing in at 138. I think the scale is kind, cuz I'm pretty sure I'm over 140. Keep in mind I am only 5 feet tall (and a half an inch). I would be thrilled to lose 15 pounds. And be eating healthy and getting exercise and feeling better and being healthier and happier. The contest, for me, is a way to commit to that goal, more than a shot at winning $200 (and not losing $50).

So far I don't have a formal plan. I'm going to be putting thought into everything I eat and exercising at least a little bit every other day. I'm going to try to think of myself as someone important to take care of. I prioritize taking excellent care of every single animal in the store and in my family and in my pet-sitting, but I don't even cover my own basic needs. I need to think of myself as my own pet I guess. :) Maybe I should make a "Care Sheet" for myself. I think I like that idea.

So last night I cooked a nice complete meal instead of grabbing something crappy out somewhere. And Brian & I went for a long, brisk walk. Then I did killer sit-ups (I go really really sssslllloooooooooooooowwww so it really works those muscles - Mark taught me that in the dorms). And a handful of pushups. I'm starting light so I don't kill myself or have a negative experience & get turned off. I'm feeling a little burn today and I feel more energy already. Christine is bringing me back my dance game tomorrow. That is a fun way to get some cardio exercise. If my computer is working ...

My harddrive died early this week. Computer said it was gone. And it was. But then it came back a little bit. Then it died again. And I do mean quite dead. But now it is back and my computer is working normally. For about 36 hours now. And I have retrieved my resume from it. That's the only thing I was overly unhappy about losing. I don't really have documents or mp3s or anything on this thing. I just use it to surf.

I have a nice, big bed now and have rearranged my room accordingly. I like my room now. Just needs a little more organizing and final decorating touches. Too bad the cable completely crapped out in here, so no TV. And I'm sure the computer will crap out again too. I do have my nifty 5-disc changer stereo Brian got me for Christmas. And I should be playing my keyboard. And there's always reading, logic puzzles and my dogs of the world jigsaw puzzle.

Aw man I just realized we lose an hour tonight. Yuck.

I must go. I'll leave with these parting words ...

My birthday is Thursday!!!
